What To Look For In A Salon Styling Chair

In the recent past salon chairs served one function. That function was a place to sit and raise the client high enough to work on. They were usually basic black and had little design qualities. The reason for this was they had to fit the look of every salon. They were expected to blend in or even disappear.

A few years later the salon business changed. Salons were no longer a place to get a haircut they were a place to relax and be pampered. They turned into a spa atmosphere where looks matter as much or more than doing quality work. This meant the basic functional chair is totally outdated and needed to be replaced.

Today the ambiance of a hair salon is what attracts clients. The furnishings play a major part in creating this ambiance. The chair you select needs to complete the look of your salon and can even be a big part of branding for your business. This decision is not to be taken lightly because your chairs plays a bigger role than ever before. Not only must it function without fail for years of daily use it need look good doing it.

When it cones time to purchase a chair for a new salon many will drive to the local beauty supply store and be totally disappointed. Most carry old fashion plain designs and have not kept up to date with the trends. The next place is online. Now you have endless options of higher and lower priced goods. Some so cheap you know it is not worth buying while others look okay. Most of the lower priced pieces are made in China and usually look really good in a photo. Too bad looks can be deceiving.

When online you find mostly China made products. While most look really nice in a photo the bottom line is they are manufactured not to last for many years but to be a low cost look a like to higher quality goods. While this sounds fine the reality is the only way to reduce cost is to cut corners. Metal frames are replaces with second grade wood or fiberglass, $100.00 a yard high end vinyl is replaced with $2.00 a year goods and foam cushions that will last 15 years are replaced with the lowest quality one can find. They usually go flat after a couple months.

If you would go with a higher end chair the materials used are all top quality. The frame is designed to work and made for higher grade materials. The cushion is 20 times the cost and will hold it's shape for the next 10 years. While the cost is usually double for a good chair it will last many time longer and still have resale value when you are ready to update the look of your salon.
