Bipolar is a serious disorder which makes one feel withdrawn, depressed, manic as well as excited. This can be confusing to the patient as well as to the partner of someone who has the disorder. It is important to find support and help with bipolar relationship as soon as possible, otherwise this will drag you down.

You must realize that there are various aspects of the relationships that can be affected and you have to be prepared for this. For example, you may find that your partner will be involved in some risky behavior, becoming violent and possibly turning to drugs and alcohol. It is a lot to deal with. However, there are a lot of successful relationships like this.

The relationships with the most success rate come with a lot of hard work. You will also find that it is easier to manage once the treatment plan has started to take its course of action. It can take time to find the right type of medication as well as the correct dosage. Some people are on medication, and still will have mild fits of mania and angry outbursts.

Children will also become confused at this point. They will see mom and dad withdrawn and depressed, sitting all day on the couch. The next day, they will be acting manic, in an excited state. This is obviously confusing, they begin to feel ashamed of themselves, thinking the outbursts are as a result of what they have done. They will need counseling as well.

Marriage counseling can be helpful for couples who are struggling. It is particularly worthwhile for the people who have just been diagnosed with bipolar. The spouse needs to understand more about the disorder, and in doing so they will have more compassion and empathy. However, they also need to know what to do for themselves, because this is going to save them as well.

A relationship like this usually will break up or lead to divorce when there is no counseling involved or when the couple are not receiving support. The person without bipolar needs space as well as friends of his or her own. They need to be involved in creative activities which will take their mind off the situation. They also need to realize that this is a marriage and not someone that you need to take care of.

You have to know whether the person with the disorder is making an effort to improve their condition. This is very important because if you are doing all the work, and they are making no effort, you will find that the situation is not going to improve. You need to be patient and understand, but the other person also has a big role to play.

The reality is that a break up can happen at any point in time. It can be difficult when your partner is continuously pointing fingers at you. They may become moody. It can cause you to become rejected, abandoned and alone. One must always seek therapy before heading signing any divorce papers.
