Information On Private Gyrotonic Training
By Amanda Collins
Gyrokinesis and gyrotonic exercise methods are the two techniques comprising the Gyrotonic Expansion System. Movement in gyrononic method utilizes support and resistance using a special equipment. The equipment enhances functional capacity. The principles used in this kind of training are the same as those employed in gymnastics, dance, swimming, tai chi, and yoga.
Gyrotonic training emphasizes continuous, flowing motion that are synchronized with breathing patterns. Private gyrotonic training can be found in various facilities, especially those that specialize in health and body fitness such as gyms or studios. Besides private training, these facilities also offer group sessions, which are attended by several individuals.
The gyrotonic expansion system was created by an individual named Juliu Horvath. Horvath is of Hungarian ethnicity born in Romania. Horvath was motivated to develop the system after struggling for a long time with chronic pain. Horvath was a gymnast and a dancer and became a ballet dancer in his early 20s. This man defected from his country, Romania, in 1970 and was later granted asylum by the United States. During his defection years, Horvath spent several months in an Italian refugee camp.
Horvath has his dance career ended when he herniated his vertebral disc. In a bid to rehabilitate the injury, he moved to Virgin Islands where he made a tiny hut within the mountains and devoted his life to extensive yoga life. The next 6 years of his life were spent in the mountains on meditation and yoga. As he did this, he started to develop the Yoga for Dancers.
From the Virgin Islands, Horvath went back to New York and started to teach the new method he had developed. He became the first person to establish a Gyrotonic studio in 1984. The classes offered by Horvath were mostly suited for professional dancers. However, the demand soon grew and the number of clients increase exponentially. To cater for the increased demand, Horvath refined routines in his classes to suit every client despite age, body size, or health condition. The new method was called the Gyrokinesis Method.
There are many benefits associated with practicing this method. Some of the most common benefits are enhanced circulation, increased mobility of joints, and cardiovascular stimulation. Additional benefits include strengthening of nervous system, stimulation, mobilization of spine, enhanced sense perception, flow of energy, improved coordination, and greater balance. People attain these benefits to different levels.
The specialized equipment needed for gyrotonic training was also developed by Horvath. In fact, all models of this device, which are currently available were developed by Horvath. The design of the equipment is such that it can accommodate natural body movements the body can make. A curvilinear wooden framework is usually included into the design. Customization is possible through the many adjustments the device incorporates. Customization is meant to allow the machine to accommodate different physiques and levels of physical fitness.
Only five models of this device are in commercial use by trainers. Out of all of them, the Pulley Tower Combination Unit is the commonest. The remaining four are usually classified as specialized equipment. They include the Jumping Stretching Board, the Leg Extension Unit, the Gyrotoner, and the Archway.
